Wet Plastering / Float and Skim - skimming is the application of a finish coat to a ceiling or a wall. It is applied in two coats in one setting and is then troweled smooth, ready for painting.

Skin coats can be applied to most surfaces, particularly where a good finish is required.

Overboarding - For this process, plasterboard sheets are fixed through the existing ceiling which then provides a fresh plasterboard surface to skim.

Float and Set - This is the application of a two coat plaster work. The base coat products include bonding coat, sand and cement, hardwall and many others. This would normally be used on brick walls or block work.

The base coat is ruled off with a straight edge and allowed to dry. Then it is finished with a skim coat that can be painted.

Dot and Dab - This is an alternative to the float and skim method. It involves adhering sheets of plasterboard to a wall and then skimming it smooth. This can be quicker and drying times are usually shorter.
